Associated Mind Map and Thinking & Creative Multimedia - Week 4
Mind mapping can use to explore and develop ideas for a specific problem,
use it to think, doodle and see where it takes you.
use it to take notes during discussions, lectures and conferences.
use it to summarize books and papers.
Mind mapping is putting your thought into a piece of paper, it
might sound similar to brainstorming, but mind mapping is different,
because you have to put a connection between everything that you
write/draw and the main concept / topic that you are mind mapping about. here's an example of what i mean by "connection".
There is 2 method of creative thinking, which are:
logical and associated mind map
Done by Poh Yeng
Done by Jennie ( Gan Xiao Whua)
Logical Mind Map is
directly connected to stereotypes. The Logical mind map comprises of
solely stereotype words. Which means that every word or image that is
put within the mind map is directly related to the central subject
through its links.
Associated Mind Map is using an associated mind map we are able to generate random words and also show the links between words that seemingly have no connection.
the main difference is when we use the Logical mindmap, we use word that are connected stereotypically with the topic, meanwhile we use a more random words for the associated mindmap. I didn't know to do a mind mapping is that hard. The mind mapping must be look interesting, so it must be look colorful with cutie image. Beside that, I have find many pictures from the internet, some image I really have no idea how to draw it out.The most difficult thing for me is have to draw it step by step and cannot repeat the same image in mind map. Thus it cannot be too wordy, if not it will be look boring.

Novelty, Creativity, Innovation and Invention - Week 3
“Imagination
is the beginning of creation. You imagine what you desire, you will what you
imagine and at last you create what you will.” —— George Bernard Shaw ( Irish literary Critic,
Playwright and Essayist, 1856-1950 )
Since the day we born as human being, we are naturally creative and always generate new ideas, and the process of producing new ideas, solutions and inventions is what we called as creative process. The definition of the word "Creativity" has been long argued among many scholar and researchers; but in fact things turned out that creativity simply cannot be defined. Creativity is a way of thinking, where thinking is the most complicated subject which still defined as a mystery of anthropology. But what makes "Creativity" special is it's a revolution of thinking, people with creativity sees the same things as others but thinks differently. One fact stats out that the world needs normal humans to keep operating, yet is creative people who regenerate the world.
Now back to the topic, creative process has involved the novelty and innovation. Adapted from Wikipedia, novelty is the quality of being new, or following from that, of being striking, original or unusual. Although it may be said to have an objective dimension (e.g. a new style of art coming into being, such as abstract art or impressionism) it essentially exists in the subjective perceptions of individuals. While innovation is the process of making improvements by introducing something new, the realization of a creative idea in a social context. So by understanding and analyzing the old perceptive, then combine together with a new idea which is replicable at an economical cost and must satisfy a specific need.; we composed an invention which enhance the old idea and fulfill the new needs.
For examples, in some rural areas such as India, incubators are limited by cost and distance, and millions of premature babies die each year. And now Jane Chen is showing an invention that will eventually save the lives and it's becoming a community based solution for the poor communities.

Yes, it's the creativity save and change the world. Creative thinking actually can be done by everyone, it's just depends on how we think, and do we accept the creativity of our own. A person who always bounded by "logical" and "rules" would never develop a good idea because creativity cannot be learnt from books but generate the values by your own.

Defining Creativity- Week 2

I have to show a video that show Creativity.
This video is from Youtube.
CL!CK: A LEGO Short Film

Research, Observe and Compare between Thinking and Creativity.
Thinking is the 1st process of creativity.
What is Creativity?
An Ability : Creativity is the ability to create something new that no one had created before.
An Attitude : Creativity is also an attitude. It is the ability to change the same concept, same ideas to newness.
A process : Creativity is the process to improve and update ourselves to make something becomes awesome and create something that different from others.

Introduction to Creative Studies - Week 1
Here goes the very first lecture class of the Creative Studies. Hmmmph, so, it’s all about creativity, a thing which is so complicated yet so important.
Well, when we consider the importance of creativity we are
apt to think of it only in the context of art. Though important, art is only a
small part of creativity. We use
creativity in every aspect of our lives, everyday. The lecture also mentioned
that the education system nowadays is actually destroying human’s creativity in
a slow way, I pretty agree with that. They tell you why instead of letting you
think of it. You see, those geniuses like Thomas Edison, Albert Einstein, they
are actually an “idiot” during their school times, to be said as those without knowledge,
but is it really true? No, they have things that normal people don’t have it,
they have eyes which see things different, and they have minds which think
differently. I just want to show that, creativity is far more important than
knowledge, and far more in need than knowledge, it creates knowledge actually.
Through the humorous joke of the lecturer, “No Eye Deer”, which sarcasm those
who never think and give the answer as “No Idea”, I get to know that he is
actually asking everyone to think, doesn’t matter that the answer will be right
or wrong, just think and give a piece of your mind. Another thing is that we need
to think differently, we already learnt that in Media Appreciation subject
which is known as “Paradigm Shift”, this will be a practical part of it then,
is just like the “Upside-down Cat” which shown by the lecturer during the
lecture.
A few words for our blog title: Imagination makes everything. So why does it says so? As for me, imagination stands a very important place in terms of creativity. As it was said like this by Albert Einstein, “Logic will get you from A to B. Imagination will take you everywhere,” we know that how powerful an imagination can be. In fact, imagination is a creative power that is necessary for inventing an instrument, designing a dress or a building, painting a picture or writing a book. Another quote from Albert Einstein: “Imagination is the beginning of creation. You imagine what you desire, you will what you imagine and at last you create what you will.” The creative power of imagination has an important role in the achievement of success in any field. What we imagine with faith and feelings comes into being. It is the power beyond creative visualization, positive thinking and affirmations. Imagination makes it possible to experience a whole world inside the mind. It gives the ability to look at any situation from a different point of view, and enables one to mentally explore the past and the future. The truth is, imagination has no limit. What if Thomas Edison never imagines a thing (bulb) which can light up the night? He will never create it, and we will be living in dark during night until now. “Problems cannot be solved by the same level of thinking that created them,” another Einstein’s quote.
Therefore, I conclude what I learnt for the first lesson of
Creative Studies by this sentence:
“Think differently from "361 angles"; imagine just whatever
you can, before you do anything.”
